Lidan Marine, designs and manufactures winch and handling systems, primarily for marine usage, have chosen to invest in LEAN PLM with Cad-Q’s PLM solution, SOVELIA.
The aim is to make the company’s existing processes and methods of working more effective with the automated transfer of released documents and their structures into their business system. The PLM solution SOVELIA is supplied by Cad-Q, a subsidiary of the Addnode Group.
Since the existing design environment is not directly connected to other systems and does not support release processes of production documentation, a considerable amount of manual work is involved, resulting in the input of duplicate data.
‘Using the SOVELIA PLM solution as a foundation, we are able to solve the problem area we decided to focus on initially, which involves tying up the design system with the business system. This also gives us great opportunities for expansion within the system. On the one hand, we get a more secure process in which we can increase the usage level of designs throughout the whole chain, whilst also removing the need for manual handling at several stages,’ Henrik Eriksson, technical manager at Lidan Marine and one of the instigators of the introduction of PLM, explains.
SOVELIA will be integrated with the business system, which handles approvals and release processes so that production information cannot be used prior to approval. This ensures that production, purchasing and suppliers can only use the latest, approved parts lists and drawings.
